Tapas and Sangria

Hola! I've arrived home safe and sound from a gorgeous trip to the city of Barcelona. Well actually i arrived home 2 days ago and meant to do this post then, but due to some unfortunate upsetting news i've had to postpone.. anyway.. I had such a wonderful time in Barca, if you've been there before you'll know what i mean when i say how beautiful the city is and because i went with sixth form, we were very lucky and able to see all the famous sights and landmarks. I feel very culturally inspired!
I'd quite like to share with you what i got up to each day so if decided to do 2 parts to my trip a bit like a diary.. enjoy!
2.30am - Arrive at KLB to catch the coach to the airport.
6.55am - Plane departs from Bristol airport to Barcelona - Yes we flew with Ryanair and yes they were awful! The staff were really rude and the journey felt really uncomfortable. The sky looked pretty though!
(Sorry about poor picture quality - All shots were taken on my iPhone unless otherwise stated.)

1.00pm Next stop was Salvador Dali's museum in Figueres. You guys probably know Dali is a surrealist artist and he has some extraordinary talent on him! I loved his work - it's a shame i was so knackered from travelling. Anyway we went around the museum snapping some pics and drawing a few quick sketches.
3.00pm Late lunch in Figueres.

(Dali's famous piece of a face.)
(Loved this piece!)

5.00pm Next we had the opportunity to do a bit of shopping in Port Vell which is just like a mall. I picked up some bits and bobs in Bershka and Shana which are a couple of Spanish retailers. We then popped into Fresco for tea, mmmm Frozen Yoghurt!
Stripy Jumper - €7.99 from Shana. I got this is size M because they didn't have a small :( But have now managed to shrink it in the wash! Clever me..
Snakeskin printed Skirt - €9.99 from Shana size S - I love this! It has a leathery look about it but flows really nicely.
Triangle chain earrings - €4 from Bershka
Wings earrings - £5 from Superdrug

Day Two -
8.30am - Breakfast
9.30am - Morning walk on The Ramblas - Sooo many Pickpockets it was crazy! But honestly, it was such a gorgeous little strip where you can buy almost anything!
I just had some watermelon juice which was very yummy! I also bought some postcards and other bits and bobs for my sketchbook.
11.15am We visited Picasso's Museum. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take photo's - Sorry! But it was a very interesting museum, there was quite a lot of surrealism there too actually.
1.00pm - Lunch in the Gothic Quarter. We found a little bar type place called, "Bready" and had a quick bite to eat.
Quick outfit picture in Bready - I basically wore all my new purchases as shown above, with black tights and my LLYMRS rings with some black ankle studded booties and a brown woven waist belt.
2.00pm We then went for a walking tour of the Old Quarter of Barcelona and continued our walk down the Ramblas ending the day ascending Christopher Columbus's Monument. I was exhausted at this point and did not want to ascend anything! Let alone a 200ft tower! But i'm so glad i did because the views were spectacular.

As you can see, we were able to see the entire of Barcelona in all it's glory. Luckily enough we were even up there at sunset and were able to get some beautiful photographs. Finally to end the day we went back to Port Vell for Fresco's.
(Port Vell)

Have any of you guys been to Barcelona before? I'd love to hear about your experiences, where you visited etc..
This is obviously only a couple of days in Barca so i will do a follow up post soon, Hope you guys are all well and sorry about the blogging break!

Have a fantastic weekend, Happy Halloween!

Friday 21 October 2011

See you soon!

Right guys, it's 1.20am and i'm heading out to the airport in about an hour so this is a quick, excitable goodbye as i head out to the (hopefully sunny) city of Barcelona. I'm back next Tues/Weds so it's supposedly like a long weekend away with the arty 6th form students of the school. Anyway i'm not abandoning my blog, i just won't be able to post for a few days! Feel free to stay in touch through twitter, all messages are welcome :) I'll try and find an internet cafe at some point, but no promises!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and i'll let you all know about Barca when i get home.

October's Glossybox!

I came home from a miserable day on Monday to find my October Glossybox sitting neatly on my bed which instantly put a smile on my face! In fact i think i screamed a little bit, i wasn't expecting it to arrive so soon. I literally ripped open the box and thought, no! I haven't taken photo's! So carefully unwrapped the rest to preserve it's beautiful packaging. What do you guys do with your boxes/ribbons etc? I've used mine for nail varnish storage, which looks neat and pretty!
Ok, so the first thing that caught my attention was this months theme, "Six pack," and reading on, i was sooo excited to see that this months box included an extra 6th product to celebrate GlossyBox's 6 month anniversary! Happy Anniversary GlossyBox!
One of the first things i noticed was the super sized briefing this month, i love how they've added QR's  to scan which takes you right to where you can buy each product. There's also the info down the right hand side which tells you how much is in a full sized product which i think is really useful! The one disappointing thing though was the fact that there's only one discount code!
Anyway, let's get down to it. Here's what i got in my box this month!
First impressions - Sweeeet, a new make up bag, perfect as i'm heading out to Barcelona on Friday! And really cute coloured nail varnish, love the packaging and detailing. It's the little details that make the Glossybox so worthwhile and special.
In the make-up bag amongst the tissue paper, the small tube of lip complex fell out! Which was this months extra product. I've used it a couple of times now and it's lovely and hydrating and so soft. The multivitamin thermofoliant and the power recovery masque seem great but i haven't had the chance to use them properly yet. The thermofoliant is almost like a sugar scrub, or rather what i've used so far seems like it. It's feels like a really gentle exfoliant, so probably good for sensitive skin.
I also received the Leighton Denny nail varnish in "Babydoll." I know other's got Hanky Panky or Sex Kitten, but i'm really pleased with this colour! I know it's very pastel-y (is that a word?), so it's probably best as a spring colour, but i couldn't care less! I love how pigmented the varnish is and like i said before, the packaging makes it really appealing too - Simple yet stylish. This was one of my favourites in the box alongside the Stila eyeliner in "Moray..."
The colour is kind of khaki with shimmers of golden tones and it smudges really well too. It's supposed to be a waterproof smudgestick and it pretty much ticks all the boxes! I wore it today and usually when i finally get home my eyeliner has faded or even totally disappeared, but this lasted all day without losing any colour. I think i might even try smudging it more and making an eye shadow effect. We'll see how that goes and i'll keep you updated!
The final addition was three perfume samples by Robert Piguet. I was very impressed with the presentation! They came in a really cute little pink bag, if i didn't love the nail varnish so much i would have placed it in the little pink bag and used it for a gift! I'm not sure about the perfume though.. They're pleasant, but just not really what i'd usually go for. My mum loves them all but i think they smell too clean? I know that sounds weird, i just don't know how else to describe it! They're okay anyway, not the best.

Overall, I was very impressed with my October Box and i know a lot of my friends and family are extremely interested in the box after seeing mine! I will definitely be using the new "Refer a friend" scheme when it's up and running.

Did you like this month's box?

The Original, "What's in your Bag?"

So if you follow me on Twitter, you will know about my pretty new bag! I bought it in the charity shop where i volunteer, Tenovus, for a nifty fiver. It's good as new as well, clearly has been very well kept.

It's a really good size too actually, unfortunately not quite big enough for 6th form with all the books this year :/ Anyway, i've decided to do one of the famous, "What's in your bag?" posts. I know, original right? Enjoy!

1.Typical lipsticks/lip glosses in my compact make up bag.
2. Car keys with my super cute owl keyring that mum bought for me when i passed my test back in May :)
3. My iPhone.
 1. Cream Puff matte lip gloss in Powder Puff - £2.99 from Collection 2000
2. Bobbi Brown creamy lip colour in Crystal Pink - £18 from Bobbi Brown
3. Sexy Mother Pucker in Candy Gloss - £4-5 from Boots, Soap and Glory
 1. The latest Glamour magazine.
2. My Purse - This was a gift bought from a little local gift shop.
 1. My umbrella - Also a birthday gift from River Island.
2. My old iPod - I've literally only just transferred music onto my iPhone finally so this is still lingering around in my bag!
3. Post-It's and a pen - You never know when they'll come in handy!
 1. Tenovus cancer badge - A friend and I are arranging a sponsored event for the charity to go ahead in July 2012 so we've had lots of meeting with reps etc hence why I have one of their badges.
2. My New Look gift cards - Need to spend these!
3. My car tax forms.. It's that time again :/
4. William Blake - Songs of Innocence and Experience. I'm studying it in English at the moment, his poems are very inspiring! Have a read if you get the chance.

So that's what's in my bag! Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Knit and Stitch

So last week i nipped to London with a few friends to Alexandra Palace for the Knit and Stitch show. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in fashion or textiles, it was really inspiring! And a lovely day out. The reason I made an effort to go was mainly for my textiles course to meet the artists that i'm studying and pick up some techniques/ideas. It's also on again in Harrogate and Dublin if you're around do go, you can find the dates here.

(Rose and I in the Boudoir Toilets! My bag is a wicker bunny print bag given to me as a gift.)

(Me with Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn - My two textile artists that i have chosen to study for my A2 textile course.)

(Me on the catwalk.)

If you ever get the opportunity - go! It was £6 on the door and if you want to buy some bits and bobs at the show it's pretty cheap. This is what i wore:
Black and White polka dot dress - I got this for 99p off of ebay! It's originally from New Look. I have to say, i think it's my favourite ever ebay purchase. It fits so nicely and is very flattering which is always a worry when buying from ebay especially as im so petite, but this was definitely a winner. I'll probably do a more detailed post on this one soon.
Denim Jacket - £6 from ebay - another good purchase! Not sure where it's originally from though.
Belt - £2 from Primark. Shoes - £4 from Primark
Necklace/Locket - Inherited
Rings - JWLRY by LLYMRS
Bunny Bag - A birthday gift ages ago. This is one of my favourite bags but i have no idea where it was from. I love the colours and the print though, it's so original.

Hope everyone's good! Much Love, xxxxx

Cosmic Rays

Hey guys! Sorry i haven't posted all week, I've been so busy with sixth form and work. I also started volunteering in the charity shop on Wednesday which was good fun! And they had some real treasures too, i pulled out a gorgeous Burberry skirt and a Ralph Lauren shirt. They even had some Forever 21 stuff in there! Never underestimate your local charity shop.
Anyway I've recently been really into this whole galaxy/cosmic print trend at the moment and wanted to share some of my favourite pieces with you guys.

First are these galaxy black leggings from Black Milk. Now it's coming up to winter, i need a night out alternative to dresses and skirts to keep my legs warm and these are really eye catching! I love the print and the colours. Black milk do a whole range of different unique leggings which are all really pretty. I also really like their swimsuits - this one reminds me of Dr who!

My next galaxy loving are these Galaxy Print Jeffrey Campbell Lita Boots. Unfortunately i don't really know where to buy them in the UK and they are sooo expensive. Maybe i could ask father Christmas for these this year :) They are gorgeous though, Jeffrey Campbell shoes are always genius.

Even Lush are following this new trend with their Space Girl bath bomb. I love the swirling constellation effect that the glitter produces on this one. You can buy these from lush at £1.90 per 125g.

Finally, there are so many DIY galaxy print tutorials on the internet at the moment and they are so clever! Youtube has tutorials such as this one to create the effect on your nails - I will definitely be trying this out at some point. And if you pop over to Lillie's blog Threads and Ends, she has done an AMAZING galaxy print bag tutorial too, i wish i was as creative as to think of this. She has a lot of inspiring DIY bits on her blog :)

So that's it for now, sorry i haven't posted in a week! I'm going to try to post more regularly this week as i have a lot lined up!
What do you guys think about the galaxy print craze? Much love xxx
